Earlier today, I came across an image of an African, seated, looking at the hand and foot of his 5-year old daughter, which had been cut off, as a consequence for not meeting specific indicators of the Belgian colonizers.
The purpose of a justice system is what it does.

well there's news reporting. they fuck up and get details wrong. opinion creeps in in how the story is framed because we're not machines. but they do their best. heck, even if they are lazy and screw things up big time, that's just incompetence, not malice
then there's outright malicious lying propaganda
