... and something a bit more cuddly from today's wall safari - jumping spiders!

Three different Salticus sp. - including one looking smug for having navigated across a significant gap, climbing to the top of a wooden gate, then back down to cross a metal hook. They're clever little beasts:

Lastly, a *tiny* little spider - a couple of millimetres long at most. Possibly a jumping spider?

I love these so much!! How do you find them?!
Old stone walls in the sunshine are good, although a few years ago I saw loads hopping around inside a greenhouse. They're pretty small, ~5mm-1cm-ish at most, so you'll need to keep your eyes peeled. It was 20mins or so until I started seeing any on the wall I was exploring today.

Best thing - they're really curious little creatures with good eyesight, and will turn to look at you, to size you up rather than running away. They're great fun to watch...
Gonna be sitting outside by wall nows looking creepy!
(I'm not sure if having a rather large camera with me takes away from, or adds to the creepiness. I do wonder what the neighbours think. I *must* explain to them - at exhaustive length - the wonders of bugs...)
"He was such a quiet man. He used to just crouch by walls talking lovingly and enthusiastically about insects in a strange accent..."
So freaking adorable. Great shots!
I do love these little creatures - see my avatar photo picture thingy for another!

(I'll have a sort through more of yesterday's photos. I took ... several more of the same spiders.)
They are so cute, how could you possibly resist?
So cute!!
(Sometimes I wish I could have a dog-sized jumping spider as a pet...)
that sounds interesting 😂 But I think i like them small hahah
