My dad started quoting this and now I found the original
@ShadowJonathan I want AI to make its own art, weird, outlandish, incomprehensible, alien.
@LordCaramac @ShadowJonathan …and not be used to replace humans livelihood’s for $$$. There’s no viable plan right now. It’s capitalism on a feeding frenzy.
@Huntn00 @ShadowJonathan Capitalism is almost over. We have exceeded the global growth limits, industries all over the planet will shrink no matter what. What we see now is the oligarchs grabbing as much infrastructure as possible before the economy collapses, they want to become the new feudal lords in the coming feudalism.
@LordCaramac @Huntn00 lmao no, there's more resources to be had, i think capitalism hasn't even started to extract things properly yet, its just that we're finally getting the effects somewhat properly fronted for everyone to see
@ShadowJonathan @Huntn00 The bottleneck is the biosphere. The bottleneck is the fact that we are part of the fauna of this planet, we need to eat, and we need all kinds of plant materials like wood, but the biosphere is degrading, species are dying, entire landscapes are turned into barren deserts by our industrial activities like mining other types of raw material extraction. We're running out of planet, we're running out of life. If we can't rebuild our entire real economy all across the globe in such a manner that it works with the natural ecosystems instead of against them, the biosphere will degrade to the point where billions will die, possibly leading to our extinction and that of all other large vertebrates.
And no technology can help with that. Growth is over, the economy will shrink dramatically one way or another.
@LordCaramac @ShadowJonathan
Humans seem to be or are very susceptible to the self-damaging gathering of wealth syndrome. iI’s very possible that 8b even 4b people maybe too much to run a sustainable planet, based on current tech on a for-profit planet. Let’s take some lessons from bacteria that grows until it collapses and rein ourselves in, before Gaia does it for us.🤔
@Huntn00 @ShadowJonathan The problem is that capitalism only works as long as the economy is growing, but it can't do that any longer. There are several types of economies that can still work even without any net growth, like feudalism or some kinds of socialism or tribal gift economies.
