@inthehands I just don't understand the end game here. And I suspect they truly don't either.

History is littered with the bodies of those in power who thought they could rule with impunity forever.

I argue the reason for democracy is to resolve societal problems with words and ideas.

Voting is simply a way to make that happen. When you are successful in stripping *that* away, you leave one other option left.

No one seems to consider what happens when the dog *actually catches* the car

People in power may have a rational interest in being conservative (and maintaining the system that is doing well for them), but in contemporary America that probably would mean supporting mainstream Democrats. Radical change is a bit risky if everything is already great for you.

But when the people in power aren't there because of merit, but have convinced themselves they are, they aren't necessarily paragons of stratigic genius.

It's hardly even less racialized, given how prison populations skew. :/
