I am very dismayed to discover that at least today when using either #JAWSForWindows 25 or 26 I can no longer read file attributes such as file creation date, date modified and file location within file properties no matter which cursor I try to use for that purpose. Can this information be accessed with either #Narrator or #NVDA?
@robini71 Hi Robin, I can't comment on other screen readers, but using NVDA 2026.1 on Windows 11 (64-bit) Version: 25H2, Build: 26200.8328
I can access file attributes in the file properties dialog. To do that with NVDA, you can:
1) Let NVDA read the full dialog when it opens
2) Use NVDA+b to read the full dialog box again
3) Use object navigation (NVDA+numpad 4 or NVDA+shift+left arrow to go back one object or NVDA+numpad 6 or NVDA+shift+right arrow to move forward one object at a time)
@NVAccess Hi friend, thank you so very much for replying. I appreciate knowing this. This is very helpful to me and I’m certain to others also. It, and you are appreciated. Thank you for all you do. β€οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘β˜ΊοΈ

@robini71 You're welcome! TBH, that dialog doesn't appear to have changed in years, so for Jaws, I'd suggest the same thing I would if you had trouble with NVDA - restart the screen reader the PC and see if that fixes it.

As a Jaws user, I also thought I'd mention the Switching from Jaws to NVDA guide if you weren't already familiar with that: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/wiki/SwitchingFromJawsToNVDA - it contains answers to a lot of the "I know how to do XYZ using Jaws, how do I do it with NVDA?" type questions

@NVAccess Yes, I did try restarting jaws and trying two different versions of it. I also rebooted the PC but still there was no joy. Thanks once again.

@robini71 In that case, it's a lost cause, you'll definitely have to switch over fully to NVDA! *grin*.

Nah I'll let someone else try to figure out the Jaws side of it, but if you do have any NVDA questions, I'm happy to help!

@NVAccess Wow! I'm suitably impressed! NVDA sure does read the properties info. Yay you that's awesome. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ And on a wholely unrelated note, I love the add-on-store integration thank you so much for it.
@robini71 You are most welcome! Enjoy :)
