True story: In 1994, my now-retired actor-husband was trying to get work in commercials, and (shortly before we met) he had to submit a video-taped audition for a local/Midwest grocery chain promoting their meat.

So he sent in his tape and got no response. I heard him do the line "Here at Major Meat..." several times as he told the story after sending it in, and while it's not too surprising that he didn't get a callback (lots of competition for the role), it was surprising that I'd never heard of Major Meat.

"Are you sure it's a big chain?"

"Yeah, they have stores all over. M-E-I-J-E-R"

"It's not 'Major Meat', it's 'My-er'."

And that's how he didn't get the job.
