It's clear that you put great effort into your videos. You let the drift of the targets become a feature of the presentation.

Can you remind me again of your telescope's size?

You labeled a number of lunar features in this video. I wonder if you've ever seen crater Petavius at early new moon? It would show well in your telescope. It's a large crater of a bit over 100 mi, and at new moon has a noticeable spoke radiating from the mountains at its center.

I wrote about it here: https://afterdark-skies.blogspot.com/p/petavius-crater.html?m=1

Petavius Crater

@stargazersmith I have featured it many times, I will see if I can find it within older vids and post here for you to take a view. Matilda is a Dob10 Skywatcher

@appagalcrochet
That's some real horsepower. Years ago (years!) I had a 10 inch Newtonian, back before the Dob mount became so popular. Then I had an 8 inch homemade Dob for many years, the mirror had a turned down edge.

More recently I bought a 6 inch f/5 Newtonian on an EQ mount. I'm old now, and carrying that apparatus around got pretty difficult. I build a Dob mount for the telescope and ended up with a much more portable system.

The Dob image shows a needle level (red) mounted on cradle top which shows pointing elevation. The blown up image shows the azimuth indications on the base.

I use a star pointer app that shows what's up from any one of 4 star tables, also showing information about each object as well as az/el location. That, the annotated azimuth wheel and the needle level makes finding objects pretty easy.

@stargazersmith I love my Dob, I have eased travel a bit by having a hand dolly cart. When separated the barrel weighs about 30 lbs and the base is about 35 lbs. Then I just assemble and roll Matilda out to where I want her. I must admit carrying her when I first got her in 2023 was back breaking for me! 🤪

This one folds down into a small flat object that takes less space when traveling. I would suggest getting one with larger wheels for going up stairs to a porch or observation deck though.

@appagalcrochet
The wheels are a good idea. And Dobs are handy because the tube comes off of the cradle easily.

I use a turn-on-threads pipe tripod for my refractors, and it too is heavy for me. I resorted to your solution for moving it, I put it on a small furniture dolly.

Petavius is covered starting at about 28 seconds into the video.

Sorry. I looked for it, didn't notice.
@stargazersmith You might as well be hunting for a needle in a pack of needles. 🤣 Hope this gave you the view you wanted. If I have clear skies again this week I will try to capture Petavius with the 2.5mm.

Very good. At times I could just see the spoke. In new moon light the spoke is eerily prominent.
@stargazersmith I will try again when I have the new moon.
