I always loved English! I started learning it in 7th grade, 30 years ago... and I never stopped, I'm still learning. The first foreign language I learned was Latin, that's a very different story. I don't remember anything ;)
Latin was my first foreign language, too. Then French and then German. I never mastered any of them like you have English. That's what comes from never stopping.

To be fair, English is also a relatively easy to learn language for a German. The other way round I think is much harder.
