Student last night didn't believe I spoke as much Spanish as I did and decided to test me on fruits and vegetables.
Now, I make a lot of mistakes in Spanish but they're almost all verb tenses and prepositions. My vocabulary is very good. And, for some reason, my produce vocabulary is EXCELLENT.
He was sad he couldn't trip me up.
He tried:
orange - naranja
grape - uva
avocado - aguacate
passion fruit - maracuya
beet - betabel
guava - guayaba
and he totally thought he had me stumped with pomegranate but I knew it was granada!
He said he'll stump me next week. Little does he know that I even know apricot is chabacano! (in Mexico, it's something else in Spain that I don't care about)
