To recommend you alternatives we need to know what #gnucash features you are using as it does #accounting and #banking. I don't do accounting but I do banking using #Jamaica/#hibiscus.

banking only. i think my needs are minimal: track credit card usage, tracking savings and checking accounts, and track 401K

Hibiscus is great for German bank accounts that offer #hbci. Credit cards often work by scraping the Webinterface, but as that's not a stable API it might break whenever the card company changes it's website.
