Cindy SueSo my community is going absolute batshit over funding the schools. It is literally a millage renewal, not an increase. A school board member is even telling people to vote no! Why the fuck are you on the board of a school system you want to defund? I don't even have kids in the school anymore for a very long list of reasons and I STILL plan on voting yes simply because every kid deserves an education. The big reason for NOT supporting the renewal? You guessed it, DEI.
I actually told the guy some of the reasons why I pulled my kids- racism from students through administration, homophobia from all of the above, transphobia from all of the above- it ran the gamut. I was like if they are putting forth any DEI intitatives they are doing a really shitty job of it. These people! And apparently when I wasn't paying attention a faculty member wore a shirt saying something about white privilege and got FIRED. I need to sit in on board meetings.
