Your old parts are also useless. You can maybe sell them to reduce the cost of the upgrade but, I'm not sure how many people would be interested in a used bottom cover or in the speakers modules anyways.

What you have written here is simply not true. In many other devices, there is no battery upgrade path at all. That makes this not pointless, even if it was too expensive (but you're not required to do so either).
