"A real-world territory capture game played on public payphones. Register, get a PIN, find a payphone, call in, and claim it. Build triangles between captured phones to control territory and climb the leaderboard."

(note that pay phones no longer actually involve paying, as they're free to use)

Payphone Tag
@wezm @sizzle Payphones still exist in Australia?
@charette yeah they have been left around the place. They're free to use now, and many can provide a free Wi-Fi connection too.
@wezm Canada missed out on that. All payphones were removed many years ago. Cannot even remember when I last saw one.
@charette @wezm I did see a photo from an airport in Canada that still had a payphone. That was a few years ago, so not sure if the phone still exists.
@wezm @sizzle this seems like it's just Ingress except the phone you play on is different
@wezm @sizzle Someone with a shark emoji owns my local payphone
@TerrorBite @sizzle yes certainly quite a lot in common with Ingress.
@wezm @sizzle suspicious number of users with frog emojis and the ENLD clan tag
