I’d love to see #CHI2027 **bridging** physical and virtual world by at least allowing virtual participation (again).

I hope that one day™️ hybrid setups are the standard, providing real experiences and engagement. This would need thinking digital first tho, I guess. Would be strange if the HCI community couldn’t achieve that.

See you online 👋

ACM CHI 2027

@denniswittchen 💯

I'd even go one step further: I'd say it'd be embarrassing if CHI wasn't the first conference to firmly establish a hybrid setup and provide a good experience for both physical and virtual attendees.

Which community, if not this one, should be able to do so?!

@abulling so true!
Speaking of one step further: what about more decentralized local events in parallel to the big CHI gathering and linking them virtually?

I know, ideas are cheap and it would take lots of (voluntary?) efforts. There are some pre-CHI events, which I enjoyed attending, and some university/lab-level events in parallel to the actual conference. Linking them, thereby giving more visibility, might be cool and adding to the idea of „bridging.“
