> If “antifa” is mentioned in the context of “references to historical or recent incidents of violence” — a category so sprawling that it includes “historic wars” and “battles” — that post will also be penalized. Should Meta apply this rule as written, the company could, for instance, restrict posts comparing the antifascist nature of World War II to the contemporary antifa movement. > Potential penalties for violating Community Standards range from a full account ban to comments being hidden or suppressed. > The policy change follows years of Meta and its chief executive Mark Zuckerberg’s pivot of political convenience toward President Donald Trump and his base. Following Trump’s second electoral victory, Meta quickly changed its speech rules to allow for anti-transgender slurs and dehumanization of immigrants, The Intercept previously reported, aligning the company with longtime MAGA culture war grievances.

isn’t this… good? antifa isn’t a real thing, only right-wing nutcases use it seriously. everyone else just says “i’m anti-fascist” like a normal person
Antifa was a brand created by anti-fascists but it was demonized by conservatives. It was never a singular organization, or even a particular agenda. It was intended as a blanket term for any and all organized anti-fascists, but conservatives sold the lie that it was a terrorist organization filled with Satan-worshiping communists.
was it? the only actually organised anti-fascists group i ever hear about go by “anti-fascist action”, or AFA. i’ve never heard anyone on the left ever use the word “antifa” in a non-joking context. i basically only hear it from the us government.
The term antifa is pretty common among anti-fascists in Germany at least. Maybe it hasn’t catched on much in the US because the country has been busy sleepwalking into totalitarianism.
