After a crash, Steam and related apps now make my laptop (Intel WhiteBook, Windows 10) overheat. I am not really a computer-toucher and need help troubleshooting what might be wrong.

(Also when I went to log in on Steam's support center to figure out how to un- and re-install Steam I got told my password is incorrect, which is a lie. So I haven't gotten to do that yet.)

Any help is welcome.

Update: I did defrag the hard drive. Looking at the task manager when I boot up a game doesn't seem to show anything really eating up my CPU. I'm fairly certain it's the graphics card now, but I have no idea how to begin troubleshooting what's wrong and how to fix it. Help and boosts needed, please.

Dang it. Successfully updated my GeForce RTX 270 graphics card driver, but Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail still cranks up my laptop's fans to the max. Not good.

Any other suggestions? Questions? Keep in mind I'm basically a beginner when it comes to dealing with hardware, so if you can help, step-by-step clarity is appreciated.
