Following up on the thought of finding women in uniforms hot, I wonder how much of fascism is just people sublimating their kinks into politics?

Tradwife - girl, you just want to be a sub and be dominated by your man with some extended play outside the bedroom. That’s great! Just don’t then make it everyone else’s problem by trying to take away the right to vote from women.

Bootlickers: seriously, you can just be a subby wubby little guy/gal that is stepped on and licks the boot. That kind of scene is hot. You don’t need to make it a form of government.

Chaste theocrats: chastity play is hot! The wait, the anticipation, the build-up! But um…maybe don’t nonconsensually use the law to criminalize sex for a bunch of other people.

I know this is hardly an original thought, as Freud literally had a whole essay about sublimating libido into politics/war. But seriously, why can’t these people just be kinksters and have fun that way?

Like, one of my play friends is an anarchist and a wobbly, but channels warhammer 40k fascist role-playing when they dom. It’s fun! It’s sexy! And it’s play, not their ideology!

Closeted gay and tran people: you feel shame and guilt over your desires? I know how to punish you just right! You can make this fun, and cathartic, and come to terms with yourself. You don’t need to try to criminalize and genocide the rest of us!
@JoscelynTransient damn I wish a hot imperial commissar would dom *me*
@JoscelynTransient Thinking of that post that's like "the only boot I wanna lick is a goth's"
@JoscelynTransient tradwives keep finding out that it actually sucks if your partner really doesn't respect you and you aren't able to draw boundaries. idk how much they are actually learning from the experience though.
@JoscelynTransient Ironically, this type of sublimation catalyzes itself. The people who don't understand boundaries are the ones who want to make their fetishes into national policy. Such people tend to emerge from repressed societies.
@JoscelynTransient This. All this. zOMG, this.

@JoscelynTransient Personally I think kink might actually be caused by the puritanical upbringing that tries to prevent it, due to something like a Pavlovian response:

They spend years filling children's heads with the idea that anything sexual is something to be deeply ashamed of and never mentioned, and then they grow up and start having orgasms.

With a sense of shame already so deeply associated with something that causes a major dopamine rush, is it any wonder people eventually end up needing to feel some kind of additional, substitute shame to get off, even if they get over the idea that vanilla sex itself is shameful?
