Hi @admin ! We're trying to set up the wordpress blog of the Comites Locals de Emergència i Reconstrucció (a local network of neighbours that germinated after a catastrophic flood in our region) as part of the fediverse. I'm new to this so I'm not sure, but I'd expect to see it as
@[email protected]
and/or my user over there as
@[email protected]. And currently those do not work. I'm assuming it's a problem on our side, but just in case I thought I'd mention it, in case you (or someone else) can point us in the right direction.

I do see for example @hazelius , who is another wordpress site that recently started federating.

Edit: I have now found @application, so something is working

@agaitaarino @admin @hazelius @application what I know is that you have to set the plugin so individual authors can be followed, and those have to be enabled through their profile page.

@rik @admin @hazelius @application
Today they gave me admin privileges to try and configure it, since other people in charge of the webpage have no time for this. I'm trying this and that, but I'm not seeing it federating so far.

I'm trying to set it up so there is only the main account, @[email protected] , and for example if I add a button of "follow me in the fediverse" on the bottom of a post, that it the handle that appears. It just does not seem to be doing anything fedivers-y yet.

@agaitaarino @rik @admin @hazelius @application the User-IDs (https://comiteslocals.org/?author=0) are blocked by your webserver or hoster.
@pfefferle @rik @admin @hazelius @application
OK, I don't know what this means in detail right now, but I think I can work from that, thanks a lot!

@pfefferle @rik @admin @hazelius @application
OK, the message traveled upstream and this particular thing now seems to be solved, as of this moment
https://comiteslocals.org/?author=0
loads.

And apparently @comiteslocals is online now, yay!

@pfefferle @rik @admin @hazelius @application @comiteslocals

New posts do seem to work (I posted and deleted a test and it did federate, yay!), and now I'm wondering about the easiest way to make old ones show up here, since some of the content is quite nice.

Is there something faster than copying, deleting, generating a new post with an old date?

@agaitaarino @rik @admin @hazelius @application @comiteslocals you can copy and paste the URL of the old post into the search bar of your mastodon instance and then it will magically show up ;)

@pfefferle
That exciting magic does not seem to be working for me, at least at the moment. Can't wait to see it in action though!

Our wordpress web seems to be pretty stressed out, with very long reaction times, perhaps due to the new federation effort, so maybe it will take a while?

Maybe also related, I edited the announcement twice and the first edit did update over here but the second one seems to be stuck.

Edit: yes indeed it seems to be working now, both the magic and the update!
