Next up: materials list. I've secured a builder (my neighbor's partner) and we went over the design and talked everything through. My bf helped with details like: gable roof with open beam, size of roof overhangs (very large, because of how much rain we get and how it can come from all directions), having screen in the upper part of the gable that faces the lanai to maximize airflow, using beadboard paneling on the inside walls. The builder is now working on the materials and price list.

Challenges: mom wants me to modify the design and add a 2nd bedroom 🫨😵‍💫🫠. After the excavator already made the house pad for a 16'x32' structure... 🥴

Also: I should make a design for the separate bathroom/shower structure that will happen after the main cabin. Might as well start pricing that in. I'm gonna stick with a composting toilet because it seems insane to spend $20,000 on a toilet and septic system for the luxury of having water take my poo away.
