Seven countries now generate 100% of their electricity from renewable energy

Scientists say we have reached an ‘irreversible tipping point’ that will see fossil fuels phased out

@nono2357 the picture of the map is totally misleading as it does not highlight the 7 countries :/
@maxbob @nono2357 true, I got confused about that too. (The map apparently depicts the countries that generate at least 50% of their electricity through renewables, which though high on the scale of things is nowhere near 100%. There are "nearly 50" countries which have reached that halfway mark, which sounds like really trying for some stats to show, but hey any progress in this direction is good 🙃)
@badrihippo @nono2357 totally agree, ever solar panel counts! :)
But for example Canada, the main source of renewable energy is hydroelectric which counts for over 50 % alone and all those plants have been built before 1990 according to Wikipedia. So the extra buildup of renewables there in the last 35 years was rather meh … :/

Eso es…
Energía?
La más adecuada para cada ubicación:
Undomotriz
Geotérmica
Hidráulica
Biogases
Eólica
Fotovoltaica
Etc etc
Luego, no necesitamos infraestructuras faraónicas, son más caras y menos eficientes.

Distribuido
Descentralizado
+ Almacenamiento

Por último, tenemos un reactor de Fusion( que sí funciona), GRATUITO en el cielo 😁

@maxbob oh, what? So the share of renewable energy is actually going down in Canada? That sucks! (Hopefully the ongoing oil crisis will trigger a turnaround 🤞🏾)

@nono2357

@badrihippo @nono2357 not going down but being around 65 % today it’s not like they had a massive built up over the last couple decades
