Polaroid 690s are equipped with a manual focus switch. Inside the front plate chassis is a little spring and a clip, which is just a tiny plastic bit and is prone to failure. Mine broke today. I'm not much of a repair wizard, so I won't open the case, but have MacGuyvered it instead. Jamming this toothpick into the switch while it's toggled does the trick!

😆 that's quite the focusing hack. i do something kinda similar with my DSLRs that don't have trustworthy AF... i focus on an object at the right approximate distance, lock the focus, and quickly repoint at my subject
