New here. Can anyone fill me in on #silentsunday ??

Thanks! PS First post!

@tillbtc
Welcome!
It's to share an image with little or no context (besides alt-text) and let the image provide some pause in your stream.

'Silent Sunday’ was first used by photographer Jay Mountford. She decided that every Sunday she would post a picture without any words - just to look at and not be distracted by words. See

Since then the hashtag use has changed a lot, but the sensibility is still there.

@SRDas Awesome. Thank you for the detailed response!
@tillbtc you're welcome! And as you are getting started here - do use (and follow) hashtags
I'd also suggest doing an introduction (perhaps similar to what's in your bio) and hashtagging - introduction
@tillbtc post picture without comment. Usage of alt text to describe the image is encouraged.
@mrcopilot Perfect, I am familiar with the encouragement of alt text but as a photo guy it sounds like a cool thing. Thanks!

there's a bunch of photography-related hashtags... I think there's one for each day of the week?
there's FensterFreitag (German for window Friday), MeerMittwoch (ocean Wednesday), ThickTrunkTuesday... and many more. notice the alliterative nature of the tags...
I think if you go follow the #photography tag you will find all of them and more
I also like Mosstodon, LichenSubscribe, and Bloomscrolling.
