It ought to be a truism that needs no repeating, but the takeaway from Hungary's elections is that humans in general simply do not like leaders approaching domestic affairs with a heavy hand, or leaders to pursue goals that are unaligned with—much less contrary to—their interests. Aspiring populists should take note.
