On jailbreaking a forced-obscelescent Kindle ...

"When my wife's beloved Kindle DX was bricked by obsolescence through no fault of her own, it gave me a frisson of excitement and anticipation to take on Darth Bezos and break open the Kindle so she could once again read her favorite books on one of the largest-format Kindle devices ever made."

Bonus points for "Darth Bezos" 😁

Your Kindle's not obsolete, it just needs a jailbreak - and I'll show you how it's done

You can transform your old Kindle - even a bricked device - into the ultimate open-source reader. Here's how.

@Natasha_Jay Kind of not a fan of the way they just attack jailbreaking Android devices like that. One study does not an absolute truth make (and more importantly is the necessary freedom.) For that matter, it's not really "jailbreaking" to toggle one setting in the system settings. (Well, now it's on a per-app basis for more security so each has to ask, but still a single toggle for each.)

I really wish they had included links and instructions for more models. I know at least one person with one such Kindle, but it's not the same model and I quickly realized the "here's how you do it" article is only "here's how it's done on the specific model I have, go search and figure it out yourself if it's one of the others" article.
