I put the swarm trap, bait hive, up today. There's commercial migratory bees in the area so that means it's time to catch someone else's bees, or my own. It's about 330 ft from the apiary, or 100 meters, but also close to where I plan on putting a hive to see how it does in slightly hotter temperatures since it will be above the cooler layer close to the water. It has 6 frames of old smelly comb in it this year.

how do swarm traps work? you come in a few days and see how many are in there?
@paulywill It's suppose to be attractive for bees that will swarm and need to find a new place to live. They scout it out days or weeks before they swarm and make a decision before they swarm.
