i really hope 40 years from now people will look at banning kids from social media the way people now look at the satanic panic of the 80s

@eniko Facebook documented 1,000,000 interactions a day between predators they matched up with children and the child victims. It is therefore important we defend Facebooks right to make money on this practice, I agree. It's just like the Satanic Panic of the 1980's in that there are zero dead kids from Facebook harm and the fear of child rape isn't even founded - like, not in reality does it ever even happen.

Just make sure we protect Facebook. I'm not addicted to social media in any way and do not want to lose the free microphone I'm given. It's only 1,000,000 children a day anyways. It's the free speech rights of those adults to talk to those children.

And that's not even important, dead and raped kids. We should focus on free speech, that's what's at risk here - we shouldn't be out here regulating industries, no one could even die from social media, it's INSIDE a computer and not real. If we curtail Facebook's right to make money on these kids the economy might fail and they ARE a major portion of the S&P 500.

@JoeHenzi are you ok bro?

maybe the solution isn't to ban kids from social media and cutting them off from the rest of society but to, you know, legislate the billion dollar corporations profiting from all this

crazy idea i know

@eniko why are you questioning if I'm okay? I didn't even propose any solution here just pointed out it's getting them killed.

Kind of shows social media shouldn't exist when we are questioning the sanity of others because they have differing viewpoints huh...

@JoeHenzi the "are you ok?" was clearly because you walked in to the mentions of poor OP to go "OH SO YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT DEAD AND RAPED CHILDREN?" because they think the social media ban won't solve any problems, not because you have a different viewpoint. Banning social media for everyone would get rid of this kind of "OH SO YOU HATE WAFFLES?" interaction though so maybe you're swaying me after all!
@lucky Exactly. It's okay when some people act a way, not when others - this is what social media does to us. Ratio is important, not morality/being right. I never said that really but it's what you want to say, so we just go around doing this lying all the time.
