Anglo countries can't seem to understand actual HSR - don't even get me started on Canada's HSR issues.

@VE2UWY The APT was before my time, I've only been on it at a Museum. The HST was a big part of my life though and was used on many of my journeys growing up. Still far more comfortable than anything we've got now.
