i don't share any of the enthusiasm.

it is just replacing one old rightwing asshole, with a younger rightwing asshole.

unless there is wide and thorough anti-corruption investigations, convictions and large nationalization of stolen public funds, #orban wins... he retires and enjoys the spoils of stealing for decades.

#hungary

@stf He conceded too quickly. It smells fishy…
@i he is eager to retire, and the plan went beautiful, even 2/3rds of majority, meaning the sockpuppets can be removed without problems and never any evidence they would have pulled a vichy
@stf that makes me sad. There used to be consequences in politics…
@i ah classic, something the hungarians missed also in '89 - setting an example for future generations of politicans. also this is what antall referred to when he said "tetszettek volna forradalmat csinalni"
@stf I think this memo went lost on a lot of politicians. At the same time it was a lesson for the smarter ones: remove consequence from the equation, specially for your opponents, so you can stay safe yourself.
@stf Magyar has been outspoken about fighting the corruption but who knows
@stf Magyar is very vocal about corruption, associates and relatives of Orban have shipped a big number of Porches and other high-value property to Dubai in the last 3 weeks, out of reach of the corruption- commission.
@IncHulk property (hotels, castles, football stadiums, etc) cannot be moved really - that is the big stuff, a bunch of cars don't matter much
@stf True, but some of the great historic buildings in Hungary that belonged to the state, have been sold off to friends/relatives of Orban; the financial/legal situation will make it incredibly difficult (and costly) to get them back, if it is possible.
Hungary has been raped, it is not easily undone.
