Agents of The Order are trained in the ways of the Lightning. It's a kind of magic that gives them superpowers that, added to those their synthetic bodies give them, makes them "persons of mass destruction". That power is what makes them do things like "moving at the speed of thought". But, like all magic, that power is toxic to its wielder. That's why they all have those synthetic bodies. Losing a little of your humanity is a good price for superpowers…=)
