Sometimes a potential client may prefer not to disclose a contact number when making an inquiry for a purchase. This morning the first client made contact, preferring DC to emailing, and the lead was soon converted to a sale. The first sale made using Delta Chat 🎉 🎉 🎉
@ggrey I did look into that Chatmail server, btw. Forgot that I would need to use port 25 which is blocked on all non-business connections here. 🤦♂️

Well that's the main problem not only for chatmail but for every email self-hosted homelab service. Thanks spammers 🤬
For other services I've used SMTP2GO which is a free-ish work around with port 2525 😉 (1000 emails per month free)
@ggrey Oh, for sure! Not blaming Chatmail at all. It was just something I had forgotten about from the last time I tried to host a mail server.
Anyway, may still look into Delta, but at the moment I only just got my tech-illiterate friend to barely agree to use Matrix. I think switching on him again would make him flip tables at the moment. I tried XMPP with him, but that went over like a fart in church.
@rez problem I found with Matrix.. The continuous nagging about confirming every new device on other devices. Don't think my 92 year old mum would be up for it 😂😂
And also, my server grew to an explainable size (more than 50gb) with just one account following 2 groups. Tbh unsustainable AND so, ditched it
@ggrey Yarp, that’s the problem I am facing with my buddy. The server size hasn’t been too bad, even with several accounts and bots on it (for my notifications).
Completely agree that it does not pass the “grandma test”. Or, I guess the “mum test” in your case.
Really, I want the Fluxxer project to move forward so that I can give my friends a drop-in replacement for Discord (my ultimate goal), but that seems stationary for now.
