Updated post!

For my NetBSD install I wanted to include disk encryption to protect personal data in case the device is lost or stolen. Its not really enough to simply encrypt home directories. Passphrases and sensitive data can linger and be extracted from locations such as system logs and swap memory. There is a trade-off to be made between how much to encrypt, the convenience of operating the system, and the ability for the system to boot.

NetBSD Installation with Disk Encryption ☯ Daniel Wayne Armstrong

@dwarmstrong
any plans on integrating this into the install wizard?
@moses_izumi Not that I'm aware.
@dwarmstrong
On that note, what's the sitrep on third-party OS installers?
(the kind that isn't part of the official ISO)
Both for the BSDs and whatever Linuxes you may be familiar with.

Doesn't matter if they're compiled programs with fancy GUIs or just shell scripts.

Windows has allowed the user to feed in "answer files" to automate the installation process since at least 95, but Calamares and whatever Antix/MX uses doesn't seem to have this feature.
