Was public discourse even that stupid in the 30s?
Some farmer interviewed at the fuel blockade was calling to shut down all ports, “go back” to a circular economy and get those tractors and trucks back to work for the Irish. As if Ireland could produce *any* fuel for all those (100% foreign made) trucks and tractors.
To think these same people refer to fuel sobriety embodied by veganism, cycling/giving up cars, and avoiding air travel as “returning to the Stone Age”.
