Big tech in 5 years:

How dare you store things locally?
What if you’re storing a terrorism?
We can’t check if it’s not on our servers!
We’re calling the cops right now! 👮

@privacyguides five years? If you had dropped that bit I wouldn't have blinked an eye!
@privacyguides Just as soon as I retire all my tech devices will be wiped clean and If I can not wipe it clean then a hammer will do the rest. I am going back to a basic cell phone that I can only make calls on.
@privacyguides Shut up, you're giving them ideas!
@privacyguides What if you're opposing a genocide? How dare you!
@privacyguides What a nice coincidence for BigTech, that RAM and SSDs become more expensive, so self-hosting becomes more expensive.

@makelog @privacyguides

Coincidence ?

The CLOUD Act allows US authorities to request data from cloud providers and other covered service providers regardless of where the data is physically stored. The act is not limited to companies based in the US. It applies to all electronic communication service or remote computing service providers that operate or have a legal presence in the U.S. Courts can require parent companies to provide data held by their subsidiaries

Anything can happen in 5 years. We're on track for more climate catastrophe and cancer if we can't stop burning fossil fuels, wasting water, polluting, etc.
@privacyguides It's cute that you think it will take years.
@privacyguides Call it CSAM, not terrorism, and you’ll get “concerned parents” everywhere supporting you.
