@QasimRashid it's weird they won't impeach him this time after they did it like 20 times during his first term, but otoh him being impeached repeatedly didn't prevent him from doing whatever he wanted last time. If they ever decide to act like a real opposition party, they need to do something that will actually make him stop

@sofiav @QasimRashid I wish Dems had thrown the book at Trump in the first regime with impeachments on everything. I pushed for that to happen. That is not what happened. We got an incredibly narrow #impeachment on just the Ukraine extortion scandal & then an impeachment after Jan. 6 2021 where they didn’t call witnesses for the Senate trial. Then-Speaker Pelosi tried to stop it both times. & no impeachments of other deserving officials, not even now.

@joe @sofiav @QasimRashid @HakeemG Ah the Pelosi “he’s not worth it” school of demonstrating tot be public that, complain as they might about an open fascist in power, by not impeaching, officially they’ll telegraph to the public that it’s acceptable to them that he stay in power.

The symbolism of the impeachment votes and the symbolism of not holding impeachment votes both failed to actually stop him from wielding political power to advance his agenda. If they can't find a way to remove Trump from office they should concentrate on making it literally impossible for his goons to carry out his orders (by cutting 100% of all funding to ICE, etc) but they're not doing that, either

@joe @HakeemG @Simplicator @QasimRashid they let ICE, as an institution, continue to exist, and apparently it had enough money to put gas in ICE agents' cars even while the agents themselves weren't getting paychecks. Bombing Iran would not be possible if the planes had no fuel and no bombs to drop, so why do they still have those things? Why do the most evil parts of the US government still get money during these partial shutdowns??? This is why symbolic actions don't matter.
