Problem here: People repeat history because they didn't learn from it. These things happen, not because the perpetrators believe in a different outcome this time, but because they were too ignorant to learn about precedents. The question of a different outcome is one they don't even ask.
Actually it's sad. It sad that ignoramuses lead politics and it's sad that so many other ignoramuses elected them.
I hear people say that the problem of enlightenment is, that with it's rational program it's actually serving the ruling class. Nothing could be further from the truth. The problem is, that it just failed in it's much more essential core program, "[hu]man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage". We still have 30% utter ignoramuses in every supposedly civilized country. We have a lot more who'd rather prefer that other tell them what is good for them. After 250 years ...
