April 11, 2020 – Trump refused to help the U.S. Postal Service, arguing that it needed to raise its rates for Amazon and other private shippers.

I refer you to the UK's "Royal Mail".
First split up into Post Office (Counters), Royal Mail and Parcelforce.
Now owned by a Czech Billionaire, utterly f1cked and outperformed by email; or possibly a tortoise.

You can pay around 2 quid for a letter, but unless you pay at least half as much again for tracked, or up to double for signed for, it will never reach its destination within a reasonable time if at all.

See "Going Postal" by Sir Terry Pratchett for a reasonably accurate satire of RM.

It WAS once profitable, just before privatisation.
