I posted about our illegitimate Supreme Court yesterday before taking my kids on a hike and then driving six hours home, and I cannot be bothered to read the resulting Discourse. At a glance, my takeaway is this: a lot of Dems are far more committed to following rules than the rule of law.
Dems just getting dunked on by Air Bud over and over again, game after game, season after season, destroying the institution of basketball, unwilling to do anything different. “The important thing is the integrity of the rules!” OK. 🙄
The SCOTUS could issue a 6-3 finding that Democrats have to do whatever Republicans say and no Democrat can ever be president and also justices can’t be impeached and a lot of Dems would be like “the important thing is we’ve all gotta vote, hashtag bluewave.”
Why should a president respect the ruling of a justice who openly accepts bribes from a billionaire? It’s absurd. Or a justice who lied under oath to get confirmed? Or a justice who openly supported the violent attempted overthrow of the government? It’s absurd!
Either you believe that we’re in the midst of a fascist reformation of the United States or you believe that the most important thing is that we follow the rules.
You know how North Carolina literally has two sets of laws, one for when a Democrat is governor and one for a Republican is governor? That is our U.S. Supreme Court reality, right now! Stare decisis is dead. We are governed by the shadow docket. All that is allowed under the vaunted Rules.

@waldo.net 🎯 this is the only lens for viewing the current moment, IMO

@waldo.net

Yes it is! Unfortunately we have a right wing political organization led by an idiot that supports fuking over our Constitution and our Democracy.
