Well my missing yubikey isn't under the couch. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
The three factors of authentication:
- something you used to be
- something you've forgotten
- something you've lost

@d_rift

somebody you used to know

@cafou @d_rift

BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO LOG ME OFF

AUTH ME ACT LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED AND THAT SESSION WAS NOTHING

@d_rift f***k it, I remember everything, I lost everything, and I seek for revenge๐Ÿ‘บ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿ˜ˆ
@asylgul ๐Ÿคฃ fully authenticated!
@d_rift I'll keep it. I have an idea of RPG campaign rooted in our reality but with magic. Think "Changeling: The Dreaming" meets "Rivers of London". And that scheme of authentication seems to be perfectly valid in a magically enhanced world.
@agturcz ooh that sounds like fun! I hope you have a great time with it.

@d_rift the three factors of authentication:

- something someone saw you typing โŒจ๏ธ
- something someone stole from you ๐Ÿ”‘
- something that can be excised from you ๐Ÿ‘

@pelicangut :shudders: too real

@d_rift I've always been fond of:

  • something you can forget
  • something you can drop in a stormwater drain
  • something you can burn off in a kitchen accident
@tully true story, I once had a "simple" 2fa turn into a multi-hour comedy skit in part because the way to open a certain account without digging a yubikey out of storage to open the password manager vault to get at the account password would have been a fingerprint... which was unavailable because I'd been using melamine sponges on my kitchen floor all weekend so I didn't have any right then.
@d_rift that's some sitcom shit, damn

@d_rift congratulations, you've passed the first factors of authentication! Now you just need approval from

Somebody that you used to knooooooow

@d_rift I have this sticker on every laptop I own.
@nuintari heck yes! Knew it'd been done before... now I need one, lol

@d_rift Sadly, Shmoocon is over, and those stickers haven't been printed in well over a decade now. I have one left for my next laptop, and then I'm all out.

But you could make your own!

@d_rift @CiaraNi
and, worryingly:
- something jotted on a post-it on your desk
