Here's the latest variant picture for the United States, to late March.

The XFG.* "Stratus" variant remained dominant, but fell to 62%.

BA.3.2.* "Cicada" has debuted in the top 7 lineages, growing strongly to 12%.

For the US, BA.3.2.* showed a strong growth advantage of 5.5% per day (39% per week) over XFG.*, which predicts a crossover in late April.

BA.3.2.* "Cicada" grew sharply to 32% in New York, tripling it’s frequency from the prior week.

A few other chains of local transmission appear to have started, in other north-eastern states.

Among children (0-17) in New York (state), BA.3.2.* was 11% (n=27), vs 1.4% among adults (n=14), so a ~8X higher rate among children.
