The cast-iron steps up to Great Western Road from South Woodside Road in the West End of Glasgow. These are part of the bridge which carries Great Western Road over the River Kelvin. Designed by Bell and Miller, it was made by the Sir William Arrol Iron and Steel Works and it opened in 1891. The original entrance to Kelvinbridge Subway Station (now in a standalone building to the left of this shot) was in the ground floor of the tenement just to its right.
