"The list of affected projects includes, but is not limited to, Virtual Private Network (VPN) software WireGuard, on-the-fly encryption (OTFE) utility VeraCrypt, the MemTest86 Random Access Memory (RAM) testing and diagnosis tool, and the Windscribe VPN software.

"Microsoft terminated the account I have used for years to sign Windows drivers and the bootloader. [..] Microsoft did not send me any emails or prior warnings..."

"I have received no explanation for the termination and their message indicates that no appeal is possible," VeraCrypt developer Mounir Idrassi said last week.

"I have tried to contact Microsoft through various channels but I have only received automated replies and bots. I was unable to reach a human. [..] I cannot publish Windows updates..."

Auf Twitter bin ich nicht mehr, selbst lesen oder anzeigen von Inhalten ist auf der FW abgeklemmt. Hier verstehe ich und kann es auch nicht gutheissen das Microsoft dieses Medium immer noch nutzt

Njaaa... aber die Lektion kann ja nicht sein: "Wenn du abhängig davon bist, dass Microsoft deine binaries signiert, dann solltest du sicherheitshalber zusehen schnell so systemrelevant zu werden, dass im Fehlerfall die IT-Presse hinreichend Öffentlichkeit für dich aufbaut."

Nun wenn man ein weniger tiefer einsteigt, erfährt man das hier schon seit längeren angekündigt wird.Aber wir werden wahrscheinlich nie genau erfahren was kommuniziert wurde und über welche Kanäle.
Was sicher aber hilfreich ist, den ein oder anderen Namen bei Microsoft zu kennen.
Meine Erfahrung zeigt mir das viele hilfsbereit sind, besonders die kommunikativen wie z.B. Scott. Soweit zumindest meine 2 cent

They need their Microsoft developer account for signing windows drivers. Quite sure codeberg has nothing to offer for that. GitHub has neither.
