First PoC and first woman to go around another world.

Don't stop talking about this point.

It's important.

@CosmicRami It is important and I celebrate it, but I worry that Artemis is also a project of oppression and inequality. It is in league with Nazi Musk. It is opening a path for capitalist exploitation of space. Unlike Apollo, it comes in the midst of a climate emergency here on earth. All my enthusiasm for space is erased by this dissonance.
@AvonVilla @CosmicRami This should not be the case. Space exploration has brought us technologies that are key to fighting the climate catastrophe, like heat insulation, solar energy, LEDs and water purification systems.
It's also important that, in a time where people seem more divided then ever before, we showcase that working together is key to reaching goals, not like in Apollos time, a race against an enemy. The mission hardware and crew showcase this very much.

@hotte @CosmicRami Working together, you say? I'm showcasing the fact that it's "working together" with a nazi.

Also I think you're overselling the scientific by-products of the space program.

I would like to see NASA concentrate on the superb work it has done on climate science, but human exploration should be a much lower priority.

I don't discount the value of "inspiration" per se. But compared to Apollo, Artemis gives very poor return on investment. Today's circus is mostly just a re-run of Apollo 8. It will be forgotten very very soon. Crossing the finish line 58 years after the winner is not that great.

@AvonVilla @CosmicRami By just focusing on Musk as a person, you talk over all the international effort that went into this mission and all the coming ones. Focusing on one person that until today has done nothing for the Artemis program yet is an insult to the international team that made something that was war driven in 58 Years ago possible in the name of science.
But seems like you are one of those people that think focusing one one problem only somehow solves it...
@AvonVilla @CosmicRami ... What you seem to forget is that most of the technologies that we have today that help fighting the climate catastrophy are byproduct that got invented for a completely different purpose in the first place.
