oh, just discovered this AI "Ask Maps" button on google maps that is in the way and I don't ever want to press it.

Immediately searched "how to remove ask maps" only to find the question asked on a google-run help forum answered by a bot.

the answer is that you can't opt out, of course.

@StingrayBadger @VCP usual warning: the OSM site itself is more a demo than a a full *maps replacement.

Try other sites or apps instead. Unluckily I don't think there is a 100% replacement for either *maps app/site, so it depends a lot on what you use them for. At the same time, there are more specialized ones, like https://brouter.m11n.de/, that has many options for bike routing.

I have got on well with the "Organic street map" app on my phone, there's so much more detail than Google maps.

I occasionally go back to Google maps when I have to drive in heavy traffic, as they get real time traffic info from all their users.
