OS to use on Fairphone 6 - Lemmy.World

Hey all, I’ve recently bought a Fairphone 6 and deciding what OS to use. I installed e/ OS and found every apps works fine except a step tracking app StepUp - which I use for work. The wheel just spins when I open this app. Does anyone know how I might fix this issue? Otherwise which OS would you recommend which also has some of the same privacy as e/ OS? Is there anything you can add to the stock OS to improve privacy? Cheers!

Hard to beat /e/os
The built in systems are already good for most people. If you want an easy next step, try installing RethinkDNS. It’s a top rate firewall AND allows hosts blocking. There are levels to using this tool, but even the basic setup is good. Take your time to learn it after that.

I don’t know about /e/ or StepUp, but as far as I know, step tracking apps often need permission to access your health data and location data. Did you maybe block something here?

Alternatively, did you try other similar apps from F-Droid? Or are you mandated to use this specific app in particular?

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried this but unfortunately it’s still not working

I checked the app on Exodus via the app lounge. There are lot of trackers that might be blocked by /e/os. One or more of them might be necessary for the app to run. Go to advance privacy in the parameters of the phone and try to allow some of them.

Other option, might be the mock location of /e/os that can block the application, if this option is activated, try allowing stepup to bypass it.

why e/os and not vanilla lineage?
Lineageos doesn’t support the Fairphone 6 officially
i’m surprised to hear that considering that murena sells fairphone 6’s w e/os pre-installed and that e/os is a port of lineage.
e/os is based on lineageOS, but they sometimes develop device support themselves like with the Fairphone 6
After Duval’s interview it’s hard to speek about privacy in eos
