This NASA communications guy keeps saying Integrity is going to hit the atmosphere at “Mach 33”. I think he talking about sea-level Mach 33.

Mach numbers are relative to the local speed of sound. At the altitude they’re going to reach top speed, the local speed of sound is much lower than at seal level.
