Positive News: France has announced its plan to ditch Windows & switch to Linux for government desktops. 🥳 🇫🇷

Not only that, but they have also moved 80, 000 National Health Insurance Fund Employees to open source alternatives replacing U.S owned Big Tech platforms like Microsoft Teams & Zoom.

It’s amazing to see the country take action, push for real digital sovereignty, & opt for open source solutions! 👏

"France has announced its plan to ditch Windows & switch to Linux for government desktops."

actually, no... they've announced that one of the government agencies / group will be moving to Linux.. not the entire government!

Wizard's first rule: people will believe something because they want to believe it's true...

the entire French government moving to Linux sounds very nice but that doesn't mean it's true! I'd recommend waiting until we have an accurate source that actually says this before getting all excited about it

@[email protected] As great as this sounds, I think this transition is just for this specific group "direction interministĂ©rielle du numĂ©rique (DINUM)" and not for the entire government.. Your source says >"la DINUM annonce sa sortie de Windows au profit de postes sous système d'exploitation Linux.". which means "The DINUM announces its exit from Windows towards workstations using Linux" It doesn't say that *all* governmental agencies will do this transition.. (unfortunately, and hopefully this will come later)

Few weeks ago I read in paper that some big cities as Toulouse had rejected windows in their administration. Little by little it’s on move but it requires a lot of change and it can’t be done very fast
