If you give an #vfx artist a tool, they're going to treat it like a hammer.

Case in point - the tool we wrote to fix shots that were setup too far from origin and suffer from float point precision errors.

Now production thinks that that is the fix for ALL the shots with render issues.

@yantor3d they should just use it on every single shot, why waiting for something to be broken?!
@antopatriarca The reason behind this tool is incredibly stupid, and the better question would be 'why didn't they set up the shots correctly in the first place!?" and the answer to that is also incredibly stupiud.
@yantor3d We had a similar tool for a VFX shot in the past, the artists decided it was a good idea to have a shot on a missile like object with the origin on the ground… and they started complaining the hair and other things started to act weird
@yantor3d The original comment was sarcastic BTW I have seen many tools and options enabled by default because it was useful in some random shot in the past
