In a X/Twitter post that garnered over 3.2 million impressions, EFF declares X is”…no longer where the fight is happening”

A startling revelation: if folk who are supposed to be fighting for your rights abandon the battlefield in fear & despair, then there will no longer be a fight. Who would have guessed? Supposed…

Quoth @EFFLive: "We stay [on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook] because the people on those platforms deserve access to information, too" But the people on X are just pond scum? If not, why do they not deserve access to information, too, #EFF? x.com/vxundergroun...
Isn't part of the issue one can't trust the numbers from twitter? And that many of the "views" may be bots or other auto reading programs, not real humans? And after that, you're still preaching in a Nazi bar, not battling on an actual battlefront. To me, that's why they left, but not sure, tbh.
Oh bless, I've just said in another discussion: "Clearly [EFF] don't want to fight Nazis any longer. If you want to fight Nazis, it's a very good place to fight Nazis, a Nazi bar. They're 'target-rich environments'. It's probably a bit harder to find Nazis to fight on Bluesky."
Fwiw I’ve always thought of EFF as doing battle in the courtroom. So I don’t see them leaving the Nazi bar as any kind of abdication.
If that demographic is not pertinent to their goals then why raise it as opposed to any other demographic?
I guess I’m missing something. I didn’t see them reference any demographic in the tweet you shared. I couldn’t see the whole thread without a login though.
They didn't, you did. When folk burble "EFF wanted to leave the Nazi bar" they are immediately attributing primacy to the Nazi demographic. That there might be other demographics, or that there might be benefits in engaging with (even botlike) supposed opposition, eludes such argument.
To be fair to you, I have had to explain the several times in my Twitter career. "Alec, why do you argue with the Twitter trolls?" "Because they have an audience, and the audience deserve to see opposition. It costs me nothing and benefits that audience."
