Big news: F-Droid 2.0 is now also available as an alpha for users of regular #fdroid. You can opt-in to receiving those updates:
@grote thanks for the tip. Just updated, looks noice!
@grote woooow, finally. this took awhile and as soon as its stable and more user-friendly as droid-ify I sure will switch back
@grote Thank you for the news 🙌
@MaximilienMoreau @grote Is this Alpha version a stable release or just a beta?
@grote Is this Alpha version a stable release or just a beta?

@sabmes @grote Alpha means it has not yet reached beta.

Software lifecycle path: pre-alpha -> alpha -> beta -> release candidate -> stable.

@grote finally, new apps not mixed up with all the updates noise \o/
@grote am I seeing correctly they've finally changed their mind on the download counting thing? :O
@grote which browser is on the home screen on the .GIF? That's the icon of Chromium, but there's no mainstream Chromium/UGC builds for Android, as far as I know.
@grote pretty, but I do not see how you start a manual update scan of the repos. Or how you do manual app updates. Those were normal procedures I do at least once daily with the older version. It should be interesting to see how this differs.
@wbpeckham now u can't update manually on home page if I'm right. I immediately downgraded to older version 😊
@grote To be honest, with this new look and layout, the shop has become really lovely and user-friendly. Thank you. It’s a brilliant version – well done!
@grote I do not like the new layout but I guess it will grow on me

@grote
Updating to the alpha, my app list now shows issues for two apps, including the mail from @protonprivacy which is apparently no longer in the repos... Is this a known issue? I did not see it in the weekly @fdroidorg news

Edit: thinking about it, maybe it was installed from the @IzzyOnDroidOrg repo, but I cannot check from the app and I also did not see any info there

@silmathoron
If you tap the apps that have issues, there are no further explanations on the screen showing the app? Can you post some screenshots?
@silmathoron @grote @protonprivacy @fdroidorg ProtonMail was removed from @IzzyOnDroidOrg 2024-05-15, as there was never an answer from them on the APK size issue (~80 MB, we asked for per-ABI builds) for over a year. We finally removed the app, as its repository was archived then, see https://github.com/ProtonMail/proton-mail-android
