I don't live like this. I can't imagine why anyone would. I know people actually do, but it just seems so horrible.

I eschew "smart" devices (thermostat, fridge, etc), or avoid hooking them up to the internet if I must have them (clothes dryer, tv).

I don't own a car, because cars are awful. My bikes require regular maintenance, but I enjoy that and could take to a mechanic instead if I wanted.

My phone is a pain in the ass, but at least it runs free software. My laptop is nice.

Minimal alarm #watch: Poljot 2612 alarm watch. From Moscow Clock Factory #1, I suspect late 1970s.

It tells time. It buzzes to wake me up without waking my partner. Takes 10 seconds to wind each night.

Only thing I'd add is radium lume :)
